Website Design
PInT is Olin College’s Public Interest Technology (PIT) chapter that provides opportunities to engage with the social impact of technology while developing engineering skills. During the summer of 2021, I worked on redesigning and creating a website for PInT.
This was a self-directed project that I worked on with feedback from peers and a mentor from Olin College's Marketing and Communications department.
Role
Website Designer
Tools
Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Wix
Design Process
Before designing the site, I did research on our club values, similar organizations and clubs, and site goals/audiences. Then, I moved on to sketching wireframes, collecting and creating content, and designing icons. I then put everything together and built the site using Wix.
RESEARCH
Outline site goals and web audiences
Create a site map
Make a user persona to understand user interactions with the site
Look at other non profit sites and college PIT groups
DESIGN
Create wireframe sketches and a mockup
Write and design content (photographs, icons, information, etc.)
Finalize branding strategy for PInT for consistent UI elements
Create site using Wix and publish
Site Goals
Communicate PInT's mission to the world
Showcase current / past work PInT members have done
By highlighting our club values and what we focus on, we want to show what matters to PInT and what we structure club activities and projects around.
PInT is a unique club in that members can work on a diverse range of projects all centering around public interest technology. We want to highlight this work to share to the rest of PInT and the broader community.
Build future public interest partnerships
PInT is always seeking opportunities to collaborate with organizations on projects and bring in speakers. By implementing an easily accessible contact page, we can help potential collaborators reach out to PInT with ease and provide relevant information about what members have / are currently working on.
Provide public interest technology (PIT) resources
We want everyone, including people not in PInT, to have access to resources such as a Context and Ethics guide and PIT career opportunities as a way for them to get involved with PIT outside of PInT.

Icons
I used Adobe Illustrator to design icons for the different projects that PInT worked on this academic year. These icons are used on the projects page of the website.
